Emmerdale spoilers follow from Monday’s episode (9 March), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale airs a special episode tonight – with Cain Dingle in every scene. Monday’s visit to the Dales follows the fan favourite as he reaches an important moment in his cancer journey, finally ready to accept wider support from his loved ones.

While we usually expect multiple storylines to feature in an episode, tonight’s one focuses solely on Cain throughout his day at Butler’s Farm, The Woolpack and during a prison visit to his wife Moira.

This culminates in an extended 12-minute scene where Cain finally tells Moira the truth about his illness.

“That particular scene where he tells me, that was a 12-and-a-half-minute scene,” Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, recently told us.

“It was written very well by a writer called Adam Sales, who’s kind of come up through the ranks.

“He knows the characters and you can tell because sometimes when you’re faced with a scene that’s that long, you’re a bit daunted because if it’s not written particularly well for the characters, it’s really difficult to learn.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
