Police have charged a 37-year-old man with murder after he allegedly attacked a 62-year-old man in Perth’s CBD, causing him to fall and strike his head on the pavement.
The incident occurred on Hay Street near Victoria Avenue just after 11pm on Friday night.
The man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital but later died.Â
Police told the ABC the two men were not known to each other.

It’s also alleged the accused stole property from the older man before leaving the area.Â
The man, from Scarborough, is facing five charges including murder, aggravated grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.
Some of the charges relate to an earlier incident on the same night, with police alleging the same man was involved in stealing property from a 41-year-old man.
He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday, where he was remanded in custody until his next appearance later this month.
Witness ‘shocked’
The ABC has spoken to several people who work in the area where the alleged incident happened.
Alyssa Deering works at a pub nearby and said she saw the man being arrested, after entering at least two businesses on the street.
“I was shocked because it was so close to us,” she said.
“We all ran out to see what had happened and saw the man getting arrested.”
