One of the biggest fights of the year could turn into literally the biggest event of all time.
In collaboration with Turki Alalshikh, Dana White is set to promote a huge ‘once in a lifetime’ event on September 13.
White has been in the middle of Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford which by itself, is already one of the must-see bouts of 2025.
Of course, promoting an event of this size also brings some new challenges for the UFC CEO and his team to take on, including White’s feelings on hosting fights in a stadium.
While he has spoken a lot about putting on the best live event possible as he looks to make his mark on the boxing world, Alalshikh is always looking to redefine what boxing is capable of.
Turki Alalshikh claims that Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford will take place over several days
Having already announced that he’s trying to remove the PPV model from boxing by having all Riyadh Season and The Ring events be free for DAZN subscribers, Turki Alalshikh didn’t stop there with the ground-breaking updates.
In a video posted by Ring Magazine, Alalshikh spoke about his plans for the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford event and how large it is becoming.
Alalshikh stated that the full card will crossover through multiple days due to the sheer amount of fights that they have matched for the event.
He believes that it’s a huge opportunity for talent from all around the world to showcase themselves, turning Alvarez vs Crawford into a full festival of fights, rather than just one iconic night.
“The undercard will be between two or three days. We have now reached more than 20 fights to do on the undercard.”
It isn’t clear what exactly this will entail and whether Dana White and his team will be overseeing every aspect of the event, though the UFC CEO did previously say that this was no different to a UFC card in terms of how involved they are.
Fans raise concerns about Turki Alalshikh’s plan for multiple-day event
Considering that this is the first time that this has been spoken about publicly, there are a lot of questions surrounding Turki Alalshikh’s plans.
Before we find out any additional details on how the multiple-day event will impact things like the venue and broadcasting plans, fans weren’t overly on board with the idea.
Many of the reactions on social media simply showed that fans think this is too much, suggesting that it will dilute the quality of the event rather than improving it.
Alalshikh has had some strong ideas to improve boxing but making events longer doesn’t seem to be a move that is supported by the majority of the audience.
