BALLYDEHOB’S tennis courts and playground have received a much needed upgrading.

The village tennis courts and multi-use games (MUGA) area were upgraded due to national funding programmes and investments in recreational spaces from Cork County Council.

The works were completed with support from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht under the CLÁR Programme, alongside a valuable contribution from Ballydehob Community Council, whose support helped bring the project to fruition.

The works included drainage and groundwork, a new porous asphalt playing surface, line marking, installation of new basketball hoops, and replacement of perimeter fencing and gates, bringing the facilities up to modern standards and ensuring they can be enjoyed by the local community for years to come.

In addition, Cork County Council secured funding through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme to enhance the Ballydehob Playground. Located adjacent to the village centre, the playground is an important community amenity.

Cork County Mayor Cllr Mary Linehan Foley said: ‘This project has breathed new life into a vital public space in Ballydehob. This is a shining example of Cork County Council’s commitment to community development, as these updated facilities will serve both locals and visitors of all ages.’

These projects will improve recreational facilities for residents and visitors and support active lifestyles for people of all ages in the Ballydehob area.
