Smart watches are great devices for those who need to keep track of their health and fitness metrics. Such devices can also be convenient in situations where you’re smart phone is not next to you and you need to answer an important text or phone call.

However, while being incredibly convenient, smart watches from some of tech’s biggest companies can often run a premium price tag that may be inaccessible to many. Fortunately, some smaller, lesser-known brands are offering smart watches at a much cheaper price.

As part of Amazon’s big spring sale, which launched this morning, the retailer is currently offering its Smart Watch for men and women at an 82% reduced cost, going from £129.99 to just £23.99. This smart watch comes in a variety of colours, including black, blue, and rose gold while also offering many features found on pricier smart watches.

The smart watch includes compatibility with both Android and iOS devices and the ability to track a variety of health metrics, such as sleep, stress, and heart rate. The watch also claims to be sturdily built, offering an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning that it is restant against dust and long-term freshwater submersion at roughly 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, making it suitable for rain and shallow swimming.

The smart watch’s software also comes equipped with 110 workout modes to help you track a variety of exercises, including yoga, cycling, walking, running, and more. The watch’s sensors also allow it to track things in your workouts such as calories burned, distance travelled, and steps taken.

However, if you want something slightly different, you can currently grab an Apple Watch SE 3 for £219 from Argos. This Apple Watch allows you to track a variety of health metrics and sleep insights through the Vitals app included in the watch.

It comes with up to 18 hours of battery life, allowing it to be used all day without any issues. However, the Apple Watch’s functionality is only fully unlocked when paired with another Apple device.

If you use an Android phone, you may prefer this Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 from Debenhams for a 58% reduced cost, going from £369.99 to £153.99. This watch comes with a Super AMOLED display, being able to show information clearly, even in brighter conditions and is also to show a variety of health and fitness metrics.

People who purchase Amazon’s smart watch praised it for its quality for value, with one shopper writing: “A lightweight smartwatch with large display that displays basic metrics such as heart rate and steps, fitting comfortably on the wrist. The readings are reasonably accurate and the battery lasts a long time. It also supports making and receiving calls, with good call quality.

“A solid and well-priced option for everyday use. Requires downloading an app but setup is easy.” Another added: “This watch is a good price with lots of features, the screen is a good size, I don’t need my glasses to read it.

“I can monitor my calories and my steps as well as keeping an eye on my pulse when I’m exercising. This is a really useful feature for me as I have a heart problem. it looks stylish and is very comfortable to wear. I also found it very easy to set up. Definitely recommended by me.”

A third said: “Loving it so far, love the colour, easy to use, great functions and nice clear display. I like there’s a choice of screen design. Good replacement for my old watch which has stopped working.”

However, not everyone was fully satisfied with their purchase, with one shopper writing: “Great watch. Only problem im having with it, it’s not syncing my contacts. So I dont know who is calling me.”

Another added: “I am removing one star because the temperature sensor is not working. I tried to put it in the fridge and I still have 30° to indicate. Otherwise great watch nothing to add.”

Baldy’s Tech reviews said of the watch: “Looks like an Apple Watch! Anyone looking for a simple no nonsense smart watch should take a look at this. It’s really nicely presented and comes with a beige strap that, if I’m honest, is more feminine than masculine!

“The functions are what you would find on any smart watch; exercise, sleep, heart rate, oxygen sats etc. The interface is very clean and swiping between the screens soon becomes second nature. It came with 60% charge and I haven’t had to charge it yet. The little magnetic charger is very strong and clips on with no bother. For £20, you can’t go wrong.”

Somebody else said: “This is a fantastic affordable smart watch with a lovely clear display screen, it’s really easy to set up, and only takes a couple of minutes. Call quality is excellent, a really lovely looking watch, very similar to the apple watch but a fraction of the price. Battery life seems to be very good, would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable smart watch.”
