RANKINGS UPDATE

The ITA updated their team rankings with their third in-season release last Wednesday, and the Patriots men moved up to #4 while the Patriots women moved to #13.

It was also the first time this spring that the ITA has updated their individual player rankings, and several Patriots made the cut. Five men’s singles players are now ranked, including Malo Poulesquen at #10, Samuel Antwi at #26, Artiom Dorofeev at #28, Carel Wessel at #37, and Daniil Felker at #38. Yona Bancarel on the women’s side is #11.

In doubles, Felker and Wessel combine to be ranked #9, while Antwi and Dorofeev are #41, while Bancarel and Natalia Gorzny are #11 in women’s.

THE FALL SLATE

The fall slate was one of the best of the Division II era for the program, with both teams sending players to the ITA Cup. The women’s pair of Natalia Gorzny and Yona Bancarel became the first Patriots women to represent the program at the ITA Cup in the Division II era, and the doubles pair of Daniil Felker and Carel Wessel along with singles player Malo Poulesquen represented the men.

Gorzny and Bancarel finished 2-1 on the week, Felker and Wessel went 1-2, and Poulesquen also finished 2-1.

THE INDIANS

Catawba College is ranked #15 in the latest ITA Rankings on the men’s side and stand at a record of 6-0 overall and are 2-0 in SAC play. They most recently took a win over #9 UIndy on Tuesday by a score of 4-0.

Ryosuke Inagawa leads singles play and is 4-0 with wins in the #4 and #5 lines. Agustin Mastri and Luca Bergonzi are 4-0 in doubles, taking all four of their wins in the #1 line.

On the women’s side, the Indians are ranked #7 in the ITA Rankings and are 7-1 in women’s play and are 2-0 in SAC play. They finished fifth at the ITA Indoor Championships earlier this year and took a 4-0 win over #26 UIndy on Tuesday.

Hanna Bougouffa leads singles play, going 3-0 all in the #2 line. In doubles, the pairs of Rin Igarashi / Sofia Antolini and Ami Miya / Lili Drukerova are each 5-0, taking all of their wins in the #1 and #2 lines.

THE NIGHTHAWKS

The men’s side of North Georgia is currently ranked #7 in the latest ITA Rankings. They are 6-1 on the season, with their only loss coming against #24 Lee on Monday afternoon.

Pedro Liborio is the leader in singles, going a perfect 5-0, all in the #1 line. In doubles, Franco Rebora and Marcos Castellanos are a perfect 7-0, with six of those wins coming in the #3 line.

The women’s side of the program is ranked #4 and are 7-2 on the season. They have now won four straight matches and finished 7th at the ITA Indoor Championships back in February.

Olesya Stokusova is undefeated in singles play this season, going 8-0 in the #3 line to lead the team. In doubles, she pairs with Anastasiia Opolska to play to a 6-3 record overall, all in the #1 line.
