Can you be cancelled twice?
That’s the question former radio host Marty Sheargold is asking as he steps back into the spotlight following his spectacular cancellation.
Sheargold lost his livelihood for crudely bagging the Matildas football team on his national Triple M radio show in February last year.

The shock jock’s comments were deemed misogynistic and hurtful from the prime minister down and Sheargold found himself doing time in “cancellation prison”.
Sheargold sat down with A Current Affair reporter Steve Marshall for his first TV interview since the controversy as he kicked off his national stand-up comedy show, The Red Card Tour.
“If I had any regrets, it would be the effect it had on the kids for them to sort of have their dad be cancelled. That’s not a real badge of honour when you’re wandering around the playground,” Sheargold said.

In a wide-ranging interview, the father of two daughters believes cancel culture is having a detrimental effect on all comedy.
“I think woke certainly has a place but I think you want to be careful that you don’t do it at the expense of everything,” he said.
Sheargold leans into the Matildas controversy during his one-and-a-half-hour routine.
“That’s why A Current Affair is here because they’ve very kindly decided to either f— me over or help me. I’m not sure how it’s going to end up,” Sheargold quips to the crowd.
So, has Marty Sheargold done his time and should he be allowed back in from the cold?
“Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right,” Sheargold said.
