Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield is not on the ice for warmups and will miss Wednesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators, according to TSN’s Claire Hanna.
The 25-year-old was listed as a game-time decision for the contest due to an illness.
Alexandre Texier will take Caufield’s spot on the top line beside Nick Suzuki and Juraj Slafkovsky.
Other lineup changes include Jayden Struble entering for Arber Xhekaj, while rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler gets the start in net.
Caufield missed most of the second half of last night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He did not take his regular shifts at even strength beginning midway through the second period and only played a pair of power play shifts in the third. He remained on the bench throughout the game, but left very late while the Canadiens were defending a 2-1 lead.
Caufield has 37 goals and 64 points in 63 games this season. He is one goal away from setting a new career high after scoring 37 last season.
The Stevens Point, Wisconsin native has tallied 155 goals and 283 points in 350 career games.
