Touring US rock legends Linkin Park cancelled their planned Adelaide concert yesterday at short notice, explaining that “illness in the band” had been behind the “extremely difficult decision” to pull the pin on the gig.

The noughties rockers are midway through the Australian leg of their From Zero world tour, but made the announcement yesterday afternoon that their show booked for the Adelaide Entertainment Centre that night, where they were due to perform for a 10,000-strong crowd, would not go ahead.

“We have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel tonight’s show due to an illness in the band. The Australian tour has been incredible so far and we are devastated that we’re unable to perform for our fans in Adelaide. Unfortunately, the show will not be rescheduled,” read a statement posted on the band’s Instagram stories.

“Please know that cancelling a show is not a decision we take lightly. We are sorry to those fans who were planning to attend. Tickets will be refunded at the point of sale, and you will be contacted directly by your ticketing company with more information. Thank you for understanding.”

Fans present at the band’s Melbourne show on Tuesday reported that singer Emily Armstrong – who had joined the group in 2024 following the death of original lead vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017 – had appeared to be losing her voice as the gig went on.

The Adelaide Entertainment Centre posted the statement to its socials at 1:30pm yesterday, leading to a flurry of comments from fans of the band reeling at the last-minute cancellation.

“You have got to be kidding me,” read one comment.

“My 15 year old is gutted, and she spent money on a new outfit to go,” said another.

“I’m so upset by this and that they won’t be rescheduling it,” read another complaint.

Linkin Park’s Australian tour will finish with two shows at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Those shows are expected to go ahead as normal.
