Sporting legend Todd Woodbridge has witnessed incredible wins as host of Tipping Point Australia.
But never has a contestant turned down a life-changing $100,000 offer thanks to the advice of their mum … until now.
Only one contestant in Australia has ever won the $100,000 grand prize, the highest win in the history of the series. So why was Todd’s offer rejected?

At the receiving end of the offer was 22-year-old Geelong student Tom. In the audience was his mum, Sue.

He was one question away from pushing the $20,000 Jackpot counter over the edge. But the environmental science student got the answer wrong.

“Am I going to throw one more tough one at you?” Todd tempted.
You bet he did. Todd offered one more question and two counters for the chance to win $100,000.

“Oh my god,” Tom reacted in disbelief, or as Todd pointed out: “You can see the hairs have stood up on your arm!”
Tom’s mum was ready to pipe up! (Nine)
Tom already had $5,500 banked which he felt was already “too much money”.
“Take the money, son,” we could hear Tom’s mum shouted from her seat in the audience.

”I can’t believe it,” reacted Tom as he turned down the life-changing offer.
“Well played, a smart young man,” a stunned Todd said. “I did feel a very sweaty palm there though in that moment.”
This isn’t the first time a contestant had a huge decision to make. One contestant has walked away with $100,000.
