Scottish drifter Arthur Richard Jackson hired a private investigator to track down the home address of Saldana.

The private investigator found Saldana’s mother’s unlisted phone number.

On the front lawn of her home Jackson confronted her and stabbed her repeatedly in the chest with a hunting knife.

The impact was so great the blade bent.

But Saldana survived the attack.

A nearby deliveryman rushed to her rescue.

Jackson was jailed for 14 years, with extra time added after he threatened Saldana from behind bars.

He was extradited upon release to the UK, where he was tried for a different murder. He died behind bars.

Saldana later relived the incident in a TV movie named Victims for Victims: The Theresa Saldana Story.

The movie inspired another stalker to hire a private investigator to track down sitcom actress Rebecca Schaeffer.

For $US250, the private investigator agency found her address from Department of Motor Vehicles records and gave it to him.

After doing so, the 19-year-old stalker shot and killed Schaeffer in 1989.
