Kimi Antonelli took his maiden Grand Prix victory in an emotional moment for himself and his Mercedes team, who secured another 1-2 finish to start the season.

Shanghai returned to the calendar in 2024 after a four-season absence due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and it was McLaren’s Oscar Piastri who took top spot in this race last season.

Neither McLaren driver started the race this time around, however, in a rare moment for the team, with lots of action having unfolded through the race.
