India completed its participation in the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 in Bangkok with a total of five medals: one gold, three silver and one bronze. This achievement highlights the ongoing development of the country’s youth boxing programme on the international stage.

Chandrika Pujari led the team by securing the gold medal in the women’s 51 kg final, defeating Uzbekistan’s Mardonova Nazokat by unanimous decision, according to a release.

The Indian U-19 men’s and women’s team competed across the Youth Olympic weight categories, delivering assured performances against strong international opponents. Half the team returned home with medals.

With the World Boxing President, Gennadiy Golovkin, and Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President, Ajay Singh, in attendance, the results reflected the strengthening of India’s youth boxing structure. Emphasis on structured pathways, international exposure, and competitive national events is enabling young athletes to transition confidently onto the global scene, enhancing India’s presence in world boxing.

Three Indian boxers won silver medals after reaching the finals in their categories. Gunjan (48 kg) was defeated 5-0 by her English opponent, while Joyshree Devi (54 kg) lost 4-1 to a boxer from the United States. In the men’s 50 kg category, L. Ambekar Meetei also took silver, losing his final bout to a competitor from Ukraine.

Radhamani Longjam (57 kg) earned a bronze medal after a closely contested semifinal against Ukraine’s Yevanhelina Petruk.
