A young boy stands in a field of flowers as his adoring mother smiles at the cameras.
Nothing too unusual until you realise the woman is Princess Diana and the child is her son, Prince William.
The heir to the throne shared the never-before-seen photo to the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales overnight (AEST), to mark Mother’s Day in the UK.

It was a rare act for William, who doesn’t often pay tribute to his mother publicly, and comes almost 29 years after her death following a Paris car crash when he was just 15.
“Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day,” he wrote, before signing off the comment with a simple ‘W’ – which is how he ends posts he writes himself.
The BBC reported the photo comes from William’s private collection and was taken in 1984, when William was about two, at the family’s country home, Highgrove, in Gloucestershire.
King Charles retained Highgrove following his 1996 divorce from Diana, just one year before her death.
