Sydney Swans superstar Errol Gulden will have surgery on his injured shoulder and will miss up to four months of the season.
Gulden was injured during the Swans’ rampaging win over reigning premier Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.
The sleek left-footer made a telling change to his Instagram profile last night hinting at his injury diagnosis and the Swans confirmed it on Monday.
“Gulden will have surgery later this week. He is expected to be unavailable for approximately four months of football,” the Swans statement said.
The setback comes at a poor time for Sydney, having burst out of the blocks with wins over Carlton and the Lions to start its season.
The Swans take on Hawthorn at the MCG on Thursday night before having a bye in Round 3.
