Cooper Sharman kicks the Saints back in front
Well, that was a moment right there!
The Saints were on the break down the right, they went towards Jack Macrae, who was being pressured near the boundary.
he twisted and turned and somehow found a bullet of a kick around his body to hit Cooper Sharman inside 50.
Sharman’s kick was good, and the Saints now lead by four points with eight on the clock.

The pressure is rising at the MCG
This really feels like a two-point game right now!
Everyone is struggling to break free, the closing down is fierce nd chances are few.
Who is going to get this done in the final 10 minutes on the clock?

Saints hit back through Jack Sinclair
All right, things are speeding up here.
The Tigers really have to close down Wanganeen-Milera – it’s not exactly a secret that he is one of the AFL’s biggest X-Factors, but Richmond defenders left him free near 50 to take the ball.
The Saints number seven fired a short handball inside to Jack Sinclair, who ran in and kicked the goal from 40.
Back to a point!

Tom Lynch answers for the Tigers
That’s an important reply for Richmond!
The ball came inside 50 to a contest, Anthony Caminiti shouldered Tom Lynch out of the way, and gave away the free.
The big Tigers forward, back today after a five-week suspension, swung the ball back perfectly left to right to split the posts.
The Tigers lead by 7.

Solid start for the Saints
Ricbhmond will not be happy with that! After squaring up the first couple of minutes of the final term, the Tigers eased up on the pressure and paid for it.
Cooper Sharman got the ball and squared it for Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, who was in too much space. Nas went and drilled a kick inside 50, and Jack Higgins marked in front.
Higgins kicked the goal from 30 or so, and there is a point the difference in the early stages of the final quarter.

3QT: Richmond 6.8 (44) leads St Kilda 5.6 (36)
Thank goodness for Tim Taranto! The Tigers midfielder drifted forward and took a mark from Jacob Hopper, and his wobbly old punt swung back in and through in the shadows of three quarter-time.
The fact that both Richmond and St Kilda have more turnovers than points (45-44 for the Tigers and 43-36 for the Saints) tells you everything you need to know.
This is set up for a Richmond upset, but they are only leading by eight, so it wouldn’t take much for the Saints to get over the top in the final half an hour.

More poor kicking from both teams
It’s a tough one out there for both sides, with players lacking confidence with their kicks. The Tigers had a great chance, but the move broke down and Seth Campbell stabbed the ball well wide from well inside 50.
Then the Saints went down the other end, and Mason Wood had a kick from the left side of 50.
This time, his kick skewed off to the left, and out on the full.
The Tigers lead 5.7 to 5.6 well into time on.

Kamdyn McIntosh puts Richmond in front
The errors are flowing freely from both sides right now. There is nothing pretty about the footy here, but the Tigers are sticking in here.
They force it inside 50, and just keep going. It looked like they could have been caught two or three times there, but they kept finding the pass and eventually it gets out to Kamdyn McIntosh, who snaps from the pocket and produces the roar of the day from the crowd.
Richmond leads by 1!

Mason Wood misses another for the Saints
This is dangerous for St Kilda here.
The Saints need to take a grip on this game to avoid the Tigers getting belief.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera made the right decision, spearing a pass inside 50 to Mason Wood.
Wood had his chance to make up for his previous miss, but he did the round the corner shot from reasonably close in, and the ball slammed into the post.
It’s a six-point game, but the longer Richmond remain in range here, the worse it is for Ross Lyon’s men.

The kicking needs some work at the MCG
Are kicking problems catching at the MCG?
After Tom Lynch’s less-than-optimal kick from 50, the Saints earned a free kick inside 50 with Ben Miller infringing on Mason Wood.
It wasn’t too far out, and should have been a goal, but Wood’s kick sprays WELL wide, and barely goes inside the right-hand point post.

Tough start for Tom Lynch
Richmond have made a solid start to the half, and they found Tom Lynch on 50 near the boundary in the left-forward pocket.
He kicked from outside, but hooked the kick horribly and missed everything.

A Marcus Windhager update
The Saints’ Marcus Windhager is on 24 disposals already, along with teammate Jack Sinclair on 19.
The highest ball-getter for the Tigers is Tyler Sonsie with 15.

In comes Liam Henry.

The Tigers would have to be the happier side going back to the rooms. They kicked three goals to two in that quarter, and have been pressuring and needling the Saints and putting them off their game a bit.
Richmond have edged in front in inside 50s – their attack is still far from sharp, but they are well and truly in this, and that’s a win given their last month or so of footy.
The biggest highlight was that stunning goal from Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, but he and the Saints stars will need to get more involved in the second half.

Mansell gets his second for Richmond
That was better from the Tigers, a stoppage win on the near wing, fed forward and then a lovely low chip inbound for Rhyan Mansell to take a diving mark.
He comes in from 30m out and kicks truly. He has been in most of Richmond’s good moments so far today – not to mention getting on Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera’s nerves!
It’s a six-point game with three minutes on the clock to half-time.

Another goal for St Kilda, who extend their lead back to 12 points in time on.

Tigers stay in touch with goal to Harry Armstrong
That was important for Richmond to get the quick reply, and they did – with one of their army of first-year players, Harry Armstrong finishing things off.
1h agoSat 9 Aug 2025 at 4:16amGreat goal from Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
What a goal for the Saints, and THAT man, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera!
The Saints have been looking for a score to get things going again, and Nasiah was the one to do it himself.
The ball went forward to the edge of 50, Wanganeen-Milera burst on to the ball, broke a tackle then reversed direction and ran along the 50m arc before swinging his right leg through it.
It bounced metres wide of the left goal post – but then bounced high in the air and took a sharp right turn, before landing on the line and going through!
The only thing I can remember like that is Angus Monfries’ famous goal in the Showdown at Adelaide Oval a dozen years or so ago.
Big effort from the Saints star, and the margin extends.
Also should be noted that Wanganeen-Milera gave Rhyan Mansell a spray on his way off the ground. Those two are firing up this afternoon, we’ll need to keep an eye on both of them.
