Box Score 1 HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Macalester College men’s tennis team played a pair of non-conference duals in Hilton Head on Tuesday, losing to Stevens Tech, 7-0 before falling to No. 4 Denison, 6-1. The results leave the Scots with a 5-5 record on the season.

Against Stevens, Macalester’s No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) and first year Charles Flaman (Calgary, Alberta/Rundle College) defeated Max-William Kanz and Renat Kramen, 6-4. Stevens won the other two doubles matches to take the doubles point. In singles, first year Derek Chen (South Kingstown, R.I./Moses Brown School) battled Dhaivik Chenemilla at No. 4 singles before ultimately losing in a tie-breaker, 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8). Stevens won the other five singles matches in straight sets.

In the match against Denison, who are the defending national champions, Flaman outlasted Arya Ganapathy Kallambella at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) to earn the Scots’ lone point. Doi also came close to victory at No. singles, falling in a tie-breaker to Nickawn Namdar, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0.

Macalester will face Salve Regina on Thursday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern in Hilton Head.
