Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has revealed he would require stitches after a bizarre mishap in the box at GIO Stadium on Thursday night.

In wet and wild conditions in Canberra, the visitors held on for a gritty 14-10 win over the Raiders, with rain falling heavily for the entire 80 minutes.

Away from the chaos on the field, there was plenty off it as well.

During his post-game press conference, Ciraldo revealed the window in his coaching area smashed and left him with a cut on his hand.

“It’s all right. I need to go get stitches now,” he said.

“There was plenty happening in that last seven minutes. It actually happened when we scored our last try.

“It was hard to stay present and there was plenty of noise coming from down below.

“It was quite foggy and we couldn’t see what was happening, so we tried to open the window and the whole window smashed on us.

“There was glass all over us and I’ll get a couple of stitches now.”

Ciraldo called for changes at Canberra’s iconic but outdated home venue.

“If I can have my two cents, I think this place is a great place to play and great atmosphere, but it deserves an upgrade,” he said.

“You can’t have stuff like that happening.”

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart was informed of the situation in his own presser and gave a fiery response about the lack of care from those in charge of renovating the facility.

“I didn’t see it [the Ciraldo incident],” he said.

“There’s no good whinging about it; the people you’ve got to whinge to don’t give a shit.

“People that make decisions about our stadium don’t care about the stadium and they don’t care about the nation’s capital and the shithouse stadium we have.

“That’s why I don’t whinge about it. I don’t care … They don’t care. It’s hard whinging to a person who doesn’t care about the actual outcome of it.”

Canberra had a chance to win in the dying stages, but a try-saving effort from Connor Tracey saw the visitors hang on for a narrow victory.
