Colby Covington has been called out by a former teammate for UFC Freedom 250 or another event.

Covington had been pounding the table for a spot on UFC’s scheduled June 14 card at the White House. The former interim welterweight champion didn’t get his wish, and he’s been critical of the top MMA promotion ever since.

One fighter who is willing to be Covington’s dance partner is Santiago Ponzinibbio, who told MMAFighting that he’s beaten “Chaos” in the gym several times when they were training partners.

“Colby Covington is asking to fight at the White House, and I’m down to fight him there or in any other card,” Ponzinibbio said. “I beat you up in the gym, and I can do it again at the White House.”

Ponzinibbio isn’t holding his breath on the bout ever coming to fruition, as he doesn’t believe Covington wants to share the Octagon with him.

“Colby will say ‘no’ because he’s scared, but I’m here to fight,” Ponzinibbio said. “He keeps calling out fighters who know they have fights booked. If he’s down for it, I’m ready. Just say where and I’ll be there to beat the crap out of him.”

Ponzinibbio hasn’t seen action since May 2025. He was stopped by Daniel Rodriguez on the UFC Des Moines card. The “Argentine Dagger” had been hoping to build off a win over Carlston Harris earlier that year, but he was forced to go back to the drawing board.

Covington’s inactivity in MMA has been even longer. His last outing was a doctor’s stoppage loss to Joaquin Buckley back in late 2024. Covington has entered the RAF promotion for freestyle wrestling, sweeping former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold back in January. He’s set to wrestle Dillon Danis at RAF 7 on March 28.
