Thomas Tuchel names his England squad for the March internationals on Friday.

It will be the former Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain coach’s final selection before picking the squad to contest the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

England will take on Uruguay and Japan in friendly internationals before the end of this month, with competition for places on the plane to North America hotting up.

Tuchel operated with a fairly settled squad throughout England’s qualification campaign, but there are still areas of need and the potential for late “bolters” to the squad to win a spot at the World Cup.

Left-back is a spot that remains up for grabs and Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall has been tipped for his first call-up under Tuchel. Luke Shaw’s return to form and fitness at Manchester United means a stalwart of the Gareth Southgate era could also return to the picture.

Shaw’s United team-mate Kobbie Mainoo has not played for England since the final of Euro 2024 but is also firmly in contention as Tuchel ponders the back-up to first-choice midfield duo Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson.
