Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was very deliberate with his choice of sneaker as he made NBA history on Saturday night
The four-time MVP logged his 1,612th career appearance in the regular season, moving him past Robert Parish for the all-time record. For the occasion, he donned a pair of his LeBron XXIIIs with 1612 stitched into the heel.
The color may have been intentional as well. Parish played 14 seasons with the Boston Celtics and won three titles there. Seafoam green could’ve been a nod to his legendary status in Boston.
Nike and James have used his signature sneaker to celebrate major benchmarks and moments throughout his NBA run. It appears Saturday night was no different.
