A police officer will face court over a petty crime in Western Sydney.
The NSW Police officer was allegedly caught stealing from the Westpoint shopping centre in Blacktown last month.
The 23-year-old man — a constable who works with a specialist command — took an item from one of the chemists on Patrick St “without paying for it”, police said.

He was off-duty at the time.
Shopping centre employees notified police of the alleged crime shortly after.
An investigation was launched, and the 23-year-old man was charged with one count of shoplifting.
He was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice on Friday and is set to face court on September 18.
“The officer been suspended with pay and his employment status is under review,” NSW Police said.
