On Sunday, March 22, the MMA (MMA) competition ACF 121 was held at the Okinawa Hall in Osaka, Japan. Lightweight champion Moon Hong-beom (New MMA) succeeded in defending the title difference against challenger Tetsuo Kondo (Dotonbori MMA).

ACF lightweight champion Moon Hong-beom knocked over Tetsuo Kondo to take the upper position and grabbed Tetsuo Kondo’s back trying to turn around and run away, ending the match with a rear-naked choke 48 seconds into the first round.

Seo Soo-hyuk (TeamMad Main Hall), the undefeated champion of the KMMA featherweight division, played his first match as a mixed martial arts professional in ACF 121. He beat Nakajima Shinnosuke (Ojiyama MMA) in a bantamweight away game with a TKO victory of 2:55 of the first round.

â–²Tetsuo Kondo is famous for his 2016 and 2024 MMA and boxing exhibition matches with actor Kim Bo-sung. â–³ Team Mad head coach Yang Sung-hoon said, “We will release content containing all the processes until the day the student Seo Soo-hyuk challenges the UFC on the YouTube channel ‘Director Yang TV’ with 58.1 million subscribers.”

KMMA is a group formed by UFC commentator Kim Dae-hwan and former UFC, Road FC, ONE, and Spider Jiu-Jitsu commentator Jung Yong-joon. It has been held every month since October 2022 to provide Korean amateur mixed martial artists with as much experience as overseas.

Kim Sung-bae, CEO of the KMMA Fighter Agency and chairman of the Popeye Association, who made the expedition to Japan, said, “It’s good that all of our players win. There are many promising KMMA members. I will not spare any support to promote national prestige on overseas stages in the future,” he said.

ACF lightweight champion Moon Hong-beom is also from KMMA. Popeye Union Member KMMA Fighter Agency is the largest mixed martial arts agency in Korea operated by KMMA, which has established itself as the No. 1 amateur organization in Korea, and Popeye, the main sponsor. It supplies players to all competitions in Korea and Japan.

Moon Hong-beom said, “Any challenger is fine. Please take good care of me so that I can play the second title defense match in Japan as the ACF lightweight champion,” he said. Seo Soo-hyuk also said, “It was an honor to make my MMA professional debut in a great competition. I will be the ACF champion,” he vowed.

Efforts to foster domestic amateur mixed martial arts, such as “Popey Union Member KMMA39 Daegu” on March 28 and “Popey Union Member KMMA40 Daegu” on April 18, will continue in the spring of 2026.

Jung Yong-joon, co-chairman of KMMA, said, “As participants flock to the competition held once a month, the work fatigue of staff, leaders, and commentators is increasing. “We plan to hold it every three weeks from now on to give the players more opportunities,” he explained.
