It’s been a little while since I last looked at one of ASUS’s TUF Gaming motherboards, and the lineup has quietly grown into something quite compelling for builders who want performance without stepping all the way into Republic of Gamers territory.

The ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Pro WiFi7 W Neo motherboard sits firmly in that space, pairing AMD’s latest X870 platform with the durability and practicality the TUF range has become known for.

The clean white board is dominated by the usual industrial styling, with angular heatsinks covering it. Prominently featured on the VRM and M.2 slots, they provide both visual weight and thermal coverage where it matters most. Further emphasising the TUF Gaming aesthetic, onboard RGB is kept to a minimum, with a simplified TUF emblem subtly glowing down the side.

Designed to take advantage of AMD’s latest Ryzen processors, power delivery is provided by a robust 16+2+1-phase design with 80A stages, ensuring stable, efficient power for modern high-core-count CPUs. Combined with Digi+ VRM control and ProCool power connectors, the platform is built to maintain consistent power under heavy workloads, whether you’re gaming, creating content, or experimenting with overclocking.

Four DDR5 DIMM slots support up to 256GB of memory, with speeds up to 9600 MT/s when overclocked. ASUS’ EXPO support makes enabling faster memory profiles straightforward, while additional tools like AEMP and DIMM Fit Pro help optimise stability and performance depending on the memory kit installed. NitroPath DRAM technology further improves signal integrity, helping the system maintain stability at higher frequencies.

Expansion and storage options are what we’ve come to expect from current motherboard setups, coming with support for PCIe 5.0. If the build uses an AMD 7000 or 9000 series processor, the primary expansion slot will offer PCIe 5.0 in X16 mode, dropping back to PCIe 4.0 at x8/x4 for the 8000 series. Storage also benefits from the newer standard when paired with the right processor, with 2 of the available M.2 slots both capable of supporting PCIe 5.0. The additional expansion and M.2 slots are controlled by the AMD X870 chipset, so they are limited to PCIe 4.0 and share bandwidth, which can limit usage.

Connectivity is another highlight of the ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Pro WiFi7 W Neo motherboard. The rear I/O includes two USB4 Type-C ports capable of up to 40Gbps transfer speeds, though these share bandwidth with the second M.2 slot. Alongside these, you’ll find eight additional USB Type-A connections for peripherals and external storage, with speeds ranging from USB 2.0 up to 10Gbps. There’s also the usual 5G Ethernet connection, HDMI port, the WIFI 7 module with Q-Antenna, audio jacks, and buttons for BIOS Flashback and clearing the CMOS.

It also comes with enough internal I/O headers to support a case-mounted USB Type-C port89 with speeds up to 20Gbps and Power Delivery up to 30W, as well as two USB Type-A ports at 5Gbps and up to 6 additional USB 2.0 slots.

Like most modern ASUS boards, the ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Pro WiFi7 W Neo motherboard also benefits from a wide range of builder-friendly features. The Q-Design ecosystem includes tool-less M.2 installation through Q-Latch and Q-Release, a PCIe Slot Q-Release lever for easier GPU removal, and Q-LED indicators that quickly identify issues during boot. BIOS FlashBack and Clear CMOS buttons are also present, making troubleshooting and firmware updates significantly easier.

Being part of the TUF Gaming family, protection remains a major focus, and as such, the board is packed with safety features: SafeSlot reinforcement, SafeDIMM memory protection, TUF LANGuard networking protection, and enhanced ESD guards, all designed to improve durability and long-term reliability. Combined with an eight-layer PCB design, these additions help ensure stable operation even under demanding conditions.

Taken as a complete platform, the ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Pro WiFi7 W Neo motherboard delivers exactly what the TUF series has built its reputation on: reliability, solid performance, and a well-balanced feature set. Between the robust power delivery, support for high-speed DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 expansion, and fast connectivity options like USB4 and WiFi 7, it offers more than enough capability for high-end gaming builds and productivity-focused systems alike.

For builders looking for a dependable next-generation AM5 motherboard with modern connectivity and thoughtful design touches, the ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Pro WiFi7 W Neo motherboard proves that the TUF range remains one of the most well-rounded options available.
