Polarizing boxing star Jake Paul has his eyes set on former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou for his next fight.

Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions are weeks away from hosting arguably their biggest card when Ronda Rousey meets Gina Carano in the company’s first MMA main event booking. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will also make his long-awaited return to MMA by taking on Philipe Lins in a five-round co-main event bout.

As Ngannou prepares to return to MMA, another potential boxing match awaits him after the Lins fight. Ngannou and Paul traded barbs in person at the inaugural Rousey vs. Carano pre-fight press conference as they teased a potential showdown between them.

Paul’s recent back-and-forths with Ngannou weren’t just for show. The former PFL colleagues-turned-foes seem destined for a clash in boxing.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports Boxing, Paul doubled down on his feud with Ngannou by previewing what he believes a fight would look like in the ring.

“I’m definitely going to keep on fighting,” Paul said.

“We will see how the jaw continues to heal up. I would say there’s a long list of opponents. Francis Ngannou was talking a lot of smack. I think that’s an easy fight for me. I think he is a terrible boxer.

“I’ll maybe want to go back up to heavyweight and knock him out like Joshua did, and render him unconscious. He knows I lasted longer than him against Joshua,” Paul continued. “I didn’t get put out. So, I think he maybe wouldn’t do the fight because deep down he would not want to get embarrassed. So to me, that’s a fun one on the list.” (h/t MMA Junkie)

Ngannou and Paul haven’t appeared in boxing since losses against the same opponent, Anthony Joshua. Ngannou is 0-2 in professional boxing with losses to Tyson Fury and Joshua.

Meanwhile, Paul continues to recover from a broken jaw suffered against Joshua, and an exact timetable for his return to boxing remains uncertain.
