Sea Eagles: Teenage front-rower Simione Laiafi is in the frame for an NRL debut after coming on to the six-man bench for Thursday’s Gotcha4Life Cup clash with the Roosters. The prop’s potential debut comes as Siua Taukeiaho’s return from a calf injury was put on hold for another week, while Nathan Brown has also been struck down with illness. Clayton Faulalo and D’Jazirhae Pua’avase are the two players to drop out 24 hours before kick-off.

Roosters: Daly Cherry-Evans will wear the No.6 jersey when he returns to 4 Pines Park for the first time as a Rooster, with Sam Walker starting at halfback. Billy Smith is on track to make his return from concussion in the centres while emerging playmaker Hugo Savala has been named on the six-man bench after making a successful comeback from an ankle injury in NSW Cup last week. Benaiah Ioelu and Tom Rodwell came out of the squad in Wednesday’s 24-hour update and will return to NSW Cup.

Warriors: Star playmaker Luke Metcalf is on track to return from an ACL injury a month ahead of schedule and has been named at five-eighth. Tanah Boyd retains the No.7 jersey after a scintillating start to the season. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (concussion), utility Chanel Harris-Tavita (concussion) and centre Adam Pompey (family reasons) are also back on deck this week, allowing Leka Halasima to return to the back-row after filling in the centres the past fortnight.

Wests Tigers: Halfback Adam Doueihi is on track to take his place in the team on Friday after being cleared of a hamstring injury following a scare late in last week’s loss to the Rabbitohs. Less positive news for Jarome Luai, who succumbs to a knee injury and will be replaced by Jock Madden. Latu Fainu is also pushing to return this weekend and remains in the extended squad as he looks to complete his recovery from off-season shoulder surgery.

Broncos: A major blow for the premiers with Payne Haas ruled out of Friday’s Battle of Brisbane due to a shoulder injury. Xavier Willison is set to start at prop in his place. In positive news, halfback Adam Reynolds is on track to return from a rib injury that forced him to miss last week’s win over Melbourne. Reynolds’ inclusion will see Ben Hunt shift to the interchange.

Dolphins: Representative prop Tom Flegler is set to make his return from a rib injury via the interchange, with coach Kristian Woolf looking to roll out the same starting side that defeated Cronulla last weekend. Francis Molo is also in the mix to return from suspension and has been named on the bench.

Bulldogs: Sam Hughes will miss Saturday’s clash after picking up a suspension playing in NSW Cup last weekend, with Sitili Tupouniua shifting to the starting side. Jake Turpin (concussion) and Harry Hayes (delayed concussion symptoms) have also been ruled out as the Bulldogs look to continue their unbeaten start to the year. Captain Stephen Crichton has won seven from seven against the Knights.

Knights: Five-eighth Fletcher Sharpe is on track to complete his return from a knee injury suffered in Las Vegas. The playmaker was a late withdrawal last weekend but is expected to take his place in the halves alongside Sandon Smith on Saturday. A suspension to Trey Mooney has seen Tyson Frizell shift to prop.

Panthers: Stability is key for Ivan Cleary’s men as the Penrith juggernaut chases a fourth-straight win to start the year. No changes to the starting side, but utility Jack Cogger returns from concussion on the interchange. Izack Tago is also on the six-man bench as he looks to break into the side.

Eels: Luca Moretti is set for his first game of the season and has been added to the bench to replace the injured J’maine Hopgood (ACL). A knee injury to Jordan Samrani has seen Brian Kelly recalled for his first game since Round 1. Parramatta have won their last four games at CommBank Stadium but have lost their last four games against the Panthers.

Raiders: Morgan Smithies is set to start at prop after Josh Papalii accepted a one-game ban for a high tackle. Young gun Joe Roddy is the new face on the bench and is pushing for his second NRL appearance.

Sharks: Briton Nikora will miss Sunday’s crucial clash due to a broken nose, opening the door for Teig Wilton to return to the starting side. The back-rower made a successful comeback from shoulder surgery via the interchange last week. Braden Uele comes on to the bench as a result.

Titans: Jayden Campbell will wear the No.7 jersey and lead the Titans around the park after being a late inclusion in the starting side last week. The halfback showed no signs of a hamstring injury that kept him off the field in the opening two rounds and is looking to steer Gold Coast to victory. Josh Hannay has the luxury of stability as the Titans chase their first win of the year.

Dragons: Identical twins Ryan (suspension) and Toby (concussion protocols) Couchman will miss Sunday night’s clash with the Titans, paving the way for Blake Lawrie to start at prop and Hamish Stewart at lock. Coach Shane Flanagan has opted to use Stewart off the bench in the opening weeks of the season, so we could see Hame Sele come into the starting side on game day.
