THE Camaro which greeted the chequered flag first in last year’s Bathurst 1000 will return to running in anger next week after a short rest.
Chassis 888A-059 was the car in which James Golding spent the past three seasons, including his memorable Great Race challenge less than six months ago.
PremiAir Racing owner Peter Xiberras has made no secret of the fact he feels his team won on that day, Golding having led the field across the line only to be demoted to third thanks to a five-second penalty hanging over his head for a clash with Cooper Murray.
That promoted Grove Racing’s Matt Payne/Garth Tander to victory.
PremiAir parked 888A-059 after the 2025 season finale, but it will soon fire back up.
That will occur next Monday, March 30, at Queensland Raceway for the purpose of a Jayden Ojeda rookie test.
Teammate Declan Fraser will also be in attendance and will be permitted to turn up to 10 laps.
PremiAir’s use of what is now its spare rig comes as its two race cars are currently at sea en route to New Zealand.
Unlike several other squads, PremiAir had opted against using any of its available rookie tests prior to Round 1.
Taupō will host the first leg of Supercars’ New Zealand doubleheader on April 10-12.
