Alyssa Healy’s return to the batting crease has taken a huge step in the right direction with the Australian captain smashing 70 off 44 balls as Australia A thrashed India A by 114 runs in the second T20 in Mackay on Saturday night.
In her second game back from a series of foot and knee injuries that curtailed her last summer, Healy found the boundary 12 times as got to the Australians off to a flyer on their way to a total of 4/187.
The 35-year-old made 27 off 18 in her comeback game on Thursday, but was back in rhythm this time out, putting on 95 for the first wicket with Tahlia Wilson (43 off 35).

Healy is not yet taking the gloves as part of her recovery, and has also left the captaincy duties to Nicole Faltum for the three-match T20 series which will be followed three one-day games and an unofficial Test.
But the fact she is back in the runs is a huge boost to Australia’s ODI World Cup plans ahead of their opening game against New Zealand in Indore, India on October 1.
Pace bowler Kim Garth was another regular from the senior squad to put in a dominant display against India A.
Garth snared 4/7 from four overs, including a double wicket maiden to close out the powerplay.
The former Ireland international captured the big wicket of Shafali Verma in the second over of the innings, and had the ball talking under lights as the visitors were eventually knocked over for just 73 in 15.1 overs.
Healy and Garth are among the few from the Australian senior team to not be taking part in The Hundred in England.
Tahlia McGrath and Darcie Brown will join them for the one-day matches in Brisbane next week, strengthening the A team even further.
“It was really nice to have a run around out there,” Garth said.
“There’s a lot of stuff I’m happy with, but also a few things I’m working on that I think I need to tidy up on, just in terms of my execution at the end.
“It feels like it’s been a really long pre-season, so it’s great to get out there and run around with the girls.”
