The Sunreef Yachts’ lineup of high-profile owners just got higher visibility. Grand Slam tennis champion Carlos Alcaraz is buying a superyacht from Sunreef, specifically a Sunreef Ultima 88 yacht.
Not unlike other yacht buyers, Alcaraz decided to buy a yacht as a way to steal time away with family and friends. He visited the Sunreef Yachts shipyard in Gdansk, Poland during his research. “I decided to order the Ultima 88 with Sunreef because I feel they are not only experts in luxury catamarans, but true trendsetters,” he explains. “Building with them gives me confidence that this will be the perfect yacht to unwind and recharge.”

“Carlos is another remarkable personality joining the House of Sunreef,” notes Francis Lapp, Sunreef Yachts’ founder and president. Already, it has well-known clients like F1 driver Nico Rosberg and legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal, who owns the 80 Sunreef Power Great White.
With an LOA of nearly 88 feet (26.8 meters), the Ultima 88 yacht series has contemporary styling, like other Sunreefs. A power catamaran, she should see a top speed of 26 knots, according to the shipyard. Of course, given her twin hull configuration, she’s also exceptionally beamy, at 29’10” (9.1 meters). Fold-down side platforms at the water aft expand usable space, too. They’re part of what Sunreef Yachts calls its Ocean Lounge, which further includes a toy garage and a hydraulic swim platform. Although the toys that Alcaraz eventually will keep aboard remain unknown, overall waterbikes and other gear can fit inside the garage.

Regardless, Alcaraz is buying a superyacht from Sunreef to ensure he can live on the water and entertain as he sees fit. To that end, he’s taking a hands-on approach for the interior and alfresco layouts. Eight friends and family will have four staterooms below decks for voyages with him, for instance. Alcaraz himself gets a main-deck master suite, with sunlight spilling in from large windows. When it comes time to entertain, the flying bridge may be one of the more popular places. Alfresco dining, seating for taking in the views, and more will be available.
“I feel that Sunreef and I share the same dynamic spirit,” Alcaraz says. In fact, he adds, perhaps with pun intended, “we are a great match.”
