David Goffin has announced that 2026 will be his last season competing on the ATP Tour.
The 35-year-old Belgian confirmed the decision Friday in a video post on Instagram. Goffin, a former No. 7 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, is a six-time tour-level champion and holds a 357-275 match record, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
“Some decisions stay with you for a long time. I’ve given everything for this sport, and tennis has given me more than I could ever have imagined,” said Goffin in the video. “The matches, the battles, the wins, the losses. The emotions. The people who were there through all of it. And that’s why this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life.”
Goffin lifted the first of his six trophies on the clay in Kitzbuehel in 2014, while he won the biggest title of his career at the hard-court ATP 500 in Tokyo in 2017. The Belgian has so far earned 21 wins against Top 10 opponents, including one against Roger Federer (to reach the championship match at the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals), two against Rafael Nadal and one against Novak Djokovic.
More recently, Goffin upset Carlos Alcaraz at the 2025 Miami Open presented by Itau: The Belgian currently leads the Spaniard 2-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
