The Dubs made a “determined trade run” for Leonard last Feb. 5 deadline, and they are expected to repeat it soon.
In the wake of this nightmare outing for them, the Golden State Warriors are projected to go all-in for a highly important 2026 offseason to reload and regain their championship standing.

The season-ending ACL tear of Jimmy Butler completely changed everything for the Dubs. And clinging to their final title hopes left was even more ruined by Stephen Curry’s long absence from his problematic “runner’s knee” injury since late January.
As they have bold plans ahead of the upcoming summer, NBA insider Marc Stein already claimed that everyone should expect the Warriors to revisit their interest in Kawhi Leonard.
“The Warriors made what has been described as a determined trade run at the Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard in the final hour before the Feb. 5 trade buzzer sounded under the belief that Leonard might be unexpectedly unavailable after LA agreed to ship Ivica Zubac to Indiana,” Stein wrote in his latest report. “The Clippers ultimately balked then, but it is reasonable to presume that Golden State will investigate that possibility once again.”
Right now, the Warriors have no choice but to continue monitoring Leonard’s situation. Despite major trade changes that saw the exits of James Harden and Ivica Zubac, the Clippers’ season turnaround continued. They are now No. 8 in the West with a 39-36 record following a brutal 6-21 start.
But considering the looming punishment by the NBA if Leonard and the Clippers get found guilty for notoriously circumventing the salary cap, the Dubs can only brace for the potential market availability of the two-time Finals MVP.
