Double cop killer Dezi Freeman has been shot dead by police after a three-hour standoff at a remote property in Victoria’s northeast that ended when he opened fire on heavily armed officers.

Freeman was killed after confronting members of the elite Special Operations Group at a property at Thologolong, near Walwa, about 8.30am Monday.

His death follows a seven-month manhunt after he shot dead two police officers and wounded a third at a remote property at Porepunkah in Victoria’s High Country on August 26.
