A former Bachelor star has called out a “passive aggressive” act by his neighbours that he claims is the most “unAustralian” move of 2026.
Jimmy Nicholson, who appeared on season nine of the reality franchise, took to Instagram to expose a “petty” snub on his nature strip in Sydney’s northern beaches.
The pilot and self-described “lawn enthusiast” showed his followers how neighbours on both sides had mowed their grass perfectly, but left his tiny section of the Avalon Beach property untouched.
“Surely this is the most unAustralian act of 2026. That is passive aggressive mowing at its finest,” he said.
Nicholson asked his followers if the move was “fair play” or proof his neighbours hated him.

The debate has divided the country, with many homeowners sharing their own stories of suburban boundary wars.
“Move to our street. Our neighbour mowed my whole front lawn today just because he was already doing his,” one supporter said.
Others shared more “wild” experiences.
“My neighbour left a 30cm strip unmowed, as it was on my side of the invisible boundary,” another wrote.
“Even while away on a two-week holiday, he instructed his adult son not to mow it. I left it, as I knew it would drive him crazy. It took 12 weeks, but he finally mowed it.”
One woman added that her “farmer husband” was mortified that this was how “city people” behaved.
However, a vocal group of critics turned on Nicholson, telling him to “pull his weight”.
“They’re sick of your untidied frontage which detracts from their places. Everyone needs to play their part for a neat street,” one person said.

The “micro strip” debate is a recurring flashpoint for Aussie homeowners.
An image recently went viral from Sydney’s Box Hill showing a similarly overgrown patch of grass left behind by a proactive neighbour.
Randwick City Council in Sydney addressed the issue in an official Q&A, suggesting the “simplest solution” is to talk to your neighbour.
“Some neighbours may choose to mow a neighbouring nature strip if their neighbour is unable to manage on their own,” the council said.
“If you’re unable to do this, you can email Council who can help.”
Popular gardener Tim The Lawnmower Man, who mows lawns for free, also weighed in on the issue.
He told his followers that if you are already cutting the grass, you might as well do the neighbour’s patch while you’re at it.
