Kayla Harrison may not be out for much longer.

Now, there’s at least a clearer picture.

Harrison recently appeared on Jorge Masvidal’s Death Row MMA podcast and offered an update on her recovery — and it sounds like she’s trending in the right direction.

“I look like a real assassin now,” Harrison said, referring to the scar from her injury. “I look like someone tried to get me and they failed… I think I’m going to have a CT next week and if all looks good, then I’m allowed to start drilling. A couple weeks after that, I’ll be back to sparring. Mommy, soon come.”

That timeline suggests a gradual ramp-up, but still leaves some uncertainty.

“Obviously, a piece of me is bummed that I’m not on it, that was my goal,” Harrison said. “I don’t know [if I would have headlined], that stuff doesn’t matter to me. I get paid the same whether I’m the first on the card or last.”

While no official return date has been set, a realistic target could be early fall — potentially September — depending on how her recovery progresses in the coming weeks.

And when she does return, one name looms large: Amanda Nunes, and that long-awaited showdown may finally be back on track.
