BRAD Jones Racing rising star Brad Vaughan will be among a 42-car field when Saloon Cars make their long-awaited return to Mount Panorama.
The Fair Dinkum Builds Saloon Car Nationals will be a key support category at this weekend’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
A Saloon Cars regular, Vaughan will race a VT Commodore sporting the same #80 as he runs in Super2.
The 21-year-old has long been touted for big things, having pipped Kai Allen to the 2022 Super3 crown.
He is tied on points with Dunlop Super2 Series leader Lochie Dalton and is expected to make his third Great Race start later this year, co-driving one of the BJR Supras.
Vaughan has proven to be a diverse talent, having spent plenty of time in the speedway/sprintcar arena as he plots a course onto the full-time Supercars grid.
“I’m a big believer in the more seat time you can get, it doesn’t matter it is, it’s going to help you in the long run,” he said last month.
Mason Harvey, who last weekend combined with Cameron McLeod for a second-place finish in GT4 at Phillip Island, won each of the past two Saloon Car Nationals titles (2024 at Wanneroo, 2025 at The Bend).
The Nationals, which splits its competitors into AU/VT and EA/VN classes, were last held at the Mountain in 2015.
