Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale’s Kerry Wyatt is left feeling betrayed next week when Eric Pollard’s crafty tricks are exposed, so she decides to end their sham marriage.

As Kerry’s secret romance with Jai Sharma is uncovered, Pollard’s attempts to keep his dear friend all to himself are exposed too. Can he make amends?

“We know that Pollard and Kerry only wed for tax purposes, but they clearly mean the world to each other,” notes our Emmerdale insider.

“So, it’s sad to see their friendship unravel like this. Why can’t Pollard just be happy for Kerry and Jai?”

Pollard previously tested Kerry’s devotion using a panic alarm, but next week he steps up his manipulation by faking a fall and guilt-tripping Kerry.

However, when he overhears Kerry and Jai chatting about care homes, he assumes they plan to send him away – so he abandons his scheme and confronts them.

He reveals to Kerry that he’s known all about her relationship with Jai for weeks, and that he has pretended to be injured for attention.

And let’s just say, it doesn’t go down well…

“It’s no surprise that Kerry is angry with Pollard, as he clearly doesn’t trust her,” continues our spy. “As Jai offers Kerry a place to stay, Caleb gives Pollard some home truths.

“He’s reminded that Kerry has made huge sacrifices for him and realises that he’s been way too harsh on his beloved mate. But it may be too little, too late.”

Pollard is stunned when Kerry announces that she’s moving out, and that she wants a divorce! Can Pollard win her round, or has he lost her forever?

Speaking back in December about the unexpected wedding twist, Laura Norton – who plays Kerry – explained: “That period of filming was the most fun I’ve had in ages, because obviously last year we did all of the limo stuff and I had to say goodbye to a few of the girls in the show that I loved.

“It was really bittersweet. Obviously it was an amazing piece of television, but this recent stuff was just great to get back to ‘old school Kerry’.

“Now Kerry is partnered with Eric and it’s like a duo that you shouldn’t put together, but for some reason it just works. They are in a situation that is so ridiculous, it’s all so incredibly funny. So I’ve loved it for several different reasons.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
