This brings the total raised this season by Forever Reds, the club’s official former players association, to more than £120,000 across two events.

Held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, the event gave supporters the chance to tee off alongside club legends.

This year’s participants included Forever Reds chair John Aldridge, Sir Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen, Pepe Reina, Gary McAllister, Sander Westerveld, Jay Spearing, Martin Kelly, Neil Mellor, Jason McAteer, Chris Kirkland, Gary Gillespie, Jim Beglin, David James, Vladimir Smicer and Stephen Warnock.

Sixteen teams competed in the fourball competition and the winning team was captained by Westerveld.

The golf day took place ahead of the sold-out LFC Foundation legends match at Anfield and featured a full day of competition with a shotgun start followed by an evening reception, auction and a three-course dinner in the clubhouse. Auction items included exclusive signed memorabilia from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

The Reds’ all-time leading goalscorer, Ian Rush, headlined the evening’s entertainment with a live Q&A.
