London | Britain will convene an international alliance of 35 nations including Australia to discuss diplomatic, political and military options for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer vowed to seek deeper ties with the Europe after President Donald Trump threatened to withdraw the US from the NATO defence alliance.
In a Downing St speech on Wednesday, Starmer pledged not to buckle from pressure to join the US war against Iran, despite the welter of insults from Trump in recent weeks, saying the UK was working for de-escalation.
