UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has given his thoughts on Israel Adesanya’s choices during his UFC Seattle defeat.

Last weekend, Israel Adesanya fell to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Joe Pyfer in the main event of UFC Seattle. It served as his fourth straight loss in mixed martial arts, and his third via finish. As you can imagine, this led many to wonder whether or not it was time for Stylebender to contemplate retirement.

Adesanya himself, however, has been pretty defiant on that subject. He wants to do everything in his power to prove that he still has what it takes to compete at the elite level, even if the majority of his doubters feel like the time has come for him to hang up his gloves once and for all.

In a recent video, Daniel Cormier weighed in on where Adesanya went wrong against Pyfer.

Cormier discusses Adesanya’s UFC Seattle loss

“I will question, and I think Izzy will question, when he gets back to watching this fight, why he chose the path that he did in Round 2. Because he was fighting really well. He fought well in Round 1, he was fighting well in Round 2. But then, for some reason, he decided to say, ‘You know what, shield in the middle, let’s stand on it and let’s trade. When, in reality, that was probably the best way for Pyfer to get a victory. Because then he could reach him.

“Joe was missing with a lot of stuff early. But Izzy then ultimately chose to fight him in a way that gave Joe a chance to do exactly what he did. So, Izzy will have some questions when he goes back and watches this.”
