WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men’s tennis dropped a 4–1 decision to Drexel on Saturday at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
The loss moves the Tribe to 7–12 on the season, while the Dragons improve to 11–3 overall.
Drexel claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Nikita Bortnichek and Gur Trakhtenberg fell 6–4 at the top spot, while Raz Katz and Theo Nilsson dropped a tightly contested 7–5 decision at No. 3. William & Mary picked up a win at No. 2, where Dylan Chou and Albert Hansen earned a 6–3 victory.
In singles play, the Tribe picked up a point behind a strong performance from Bortnichek at No. 2. He rallied for a straight-set win, 7–6, 6–3.
Drexel ultimately won three straight singles matches to clinch the contest. Theo Nilsson fell 6–0, 6–2 at No. 6, followed by Dylan Chou dropping a 6–3, 6–2 decision at No. 4. The Dragons secured the match at No. 3, where Austin Cohen fell 7–5, 6–4.
The remaining matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles went unfinished.
