GOODYEAR, ARIZONA – UT Tyler women’s golf collected their ninth top five finish of the year in their final regular season event after placing fourth at the Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Patriots fired a final round 294, two shots better than round one, climbing three spots in the process. The tournament title was taken by CSU Pueblo, with West Texas A&M and Cal State East Bay finishing second and third.
The final round effort was led by Arnie Taguines, who shot a one under par 71 behind a quartet of birdies. She climbed 58 spots on the leaderboard with the effort, settling into a tie for 34th.
Martha Laremark and Emmerson Doyle would be just behind, shooting rounds of 72 and 74. Laremark made three birdies and 12 pars in her effort, while Doyle made four birdies and eight pars. Doyle placed in a tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard at even par for the event. Laremark would climb 22 spots with her final round effort, finishing in a tie for 16th.
Both Karina Duran and Lucy Kate Smith shot final round 77’s, wrapping up the team scoring for the day. The pair combined for three birdies and 23 total pars.
The Patriots posted the second lowest average in the field in par four scoring at 4.12, were third lowest in par three scoring at 3.23, and made the third most birdies as a team with 25.
UT Tyler will now set their sights on the Lone Star Conference Championship, taking place April 13th-15th at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.
