EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the second consecutive week, the Belmont University men’s tennis team defeated Southern Indiana, doing so Saturday evening on the road in Evansville, Indiana. With the triumph, Belmont clinches a spot in the 2026 Horizon League Men’s Tennis Championship, held Friday-Sunday, April 24-26 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

The tandem of sophomore Charlie Robin and graduate Will Ecklund gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the match as they bested Southern Indiana’s Jy and Kalani Hibbert 7-3 in a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles. Belmont’s other doubles win came on court three where the duo of sophomore Morgan Woodson and senior Eli Mizerski topped the Screaming Eagles’ Adam Koon and Aaron Dawson 6-4.

At the top of the doubles lineup, Southern Indiana’s Axel Sabourin and Mathys Bove edged senior Sabi Roi and sophomore Esteban Ortiz in a 7-5 tiebreaker.

In singles action, Roi was a 6-1, 7-6 (4) winner over the Screaming Eagles’ Sabourin at the No. 1 spot. Freshman Bautista Durrels Rojo was also a straight-set victor, defeating Southern Indiana’s Koon 6-2, 6-1 at the fifth singles position.
