CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sanaa Carter paced North Carolina Central at the North Carolina Challenge Cup, held Saturday at the Finley Golf Course.

Carter, a freshman, tied for 26th place out of 71 competitors in the one-day, two-round women’s golf tournament, finishing with a 10-over 150 score on the par 70, 6,130-yard course layout. She opened with a 76 before improving with a 74 in the second round.

Teammate Aubree Clements also turned in a solid performance, tying for 34th place with a 13-over 153 after rounds of 75 and 78. In team play, NCCU placed 10th out of 13 teams with a total score of 64-over 624.

Michigan State scored an eight-under 552 to win the team title, and Taylor Kehoe of Michigan State earned medalist honors with a six-under 134.

NEXT UP

The UNC tournament ended the regular season for the Eagles, who will compete in the NEC Championship in Ellicott City, Md., on April 17-19.
