PORTLAND, Ore. — Saint Mary’s women’s tennis took on Portland with multiple close fought matches, but ultimately fell to the Pilots 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
In doubles play, Elif Gunal/Madison Weekley earned a 6-4 win, improving to 6-6 on the season as a pair. Both Sofia Darayie/Tiana Fox and Sophie Stanton/Sydney Wilson narrowly lost their respective matches, each falling 7-6, giving the Pilots the early match lead with the doubles point.
Wilson recorded the lone win in singles play for the Gaels, posting a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The redshirt sophomore improved to 6-8 on the season. Portland fought off another slew of highly competitive matches in singles play but the Pilots would solidify a 6-1 match victory.
