Riders along the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail at Travancore should be alert to vehicles crossing the trail in the coming weeks.

Maintenance activities will be underway on the ‘Red Sticks’ Melbourne Gateway artwork tucked in behind the trail along the Tullamarine Freeway.

The now 25-year-old square columns receive periodic inspections and maintenance to protect them from environmental factors like sun, wind and rain.

Works will take about two weeks to complete, mostly during the day, with night works scheduled for 19 and 20 April, weather permitting.

The shared-use Moonee Ponds Creek Trail will remain open although vehicles and plant equipment may cross the path during the works.

Work is due to finish late April 2026.
