FRESH off delivering the Bowtie its maiden successes in Australian Trans Am, Nathan Herne will race in New Zealand with a different body shape this weekend.

The Lismore product swept the Aussie Trans Am season-opener last weekend at Mount Panorama aboard a BlueGold Industries #29 Chevrolet Camaro run by his own team.

The Camaro had never before tasted victory in the category, but that sure changed in a big way as Herne opened up a 23-point advantage atop the standings over part-timer James Golding. The nearest full-time competitor is Ben Bargwanna, at 35 points back.

Anyhow, Herne will look to keep the momentum flowing as he races on the ITM Taupō Super440 support card in TA2 NZ.

Herne will race a Dodge Challenger there – the same model he famously used to soar to the 2021 Aussie Trans Am crown.

Tyler Cheney is also in the 16-strong TA2 NZ field for Taupō, where Caleb Byers and Dylan Grant are set to duke it out for the inaugural title.
