What was intended to be a lighthearted ‘how well do you know me’ game between Saturday Night Live co-stars quickly derailed, forcing Vanity Fair to edit their original interview footage following significant backlash.

The publication sat Saturday Night Live stars Chloe Fineman, Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla, Jane Wickline and James Austin Johnson down for a video, where they shared candid confessions from their past.

It was all fairly tame until one moment where Fineman asks her co-stars to guess which job she was fired from as a 16-year-old.

Her co-stars’ guesses were what you’d typically predict – getting fired from a waitress gig for a bad attitude being one of them. But what came next took the group by complete surprise.

SNL star's interview re-edited after backlash

“I was fired as a camp counsellor,” Fineman shared in the video. “I pantsed a boy.”

Completely expecting their stunned reactions, she goes on to justify her actions – hoping it might sway them a little.

“He would lift my shirt all the time. It was a different time. He would be like, ‘Hey, could I have a hug?’ And then I’d go to hug him and he’d lift my shirt, like a d*ck. And then I was like, ‘I’m going to get back at you.’”

Yes, the comedienne eventually got her revenge.

“We were on a hike and I was like, ‘Hey, Ollie, go look over there. It’s a hawk.’ He looked and then I yanked his pants down, and then I was fired.”

In the clip shared by Vanity Fair, the group appeared completely shocked by the share – with Ashley Padilla even commenting: “Oh honey, I think you’re on a list somewhere!”

But that wasn’t even the worst of it. The backlash from her co-stars was so intense, the publication felt the need to heavily edit the original conversation – carefully omitting some controversial details from the story.

In the original video, shared on TikTok, Fineman is heard giving more context to the pantsing incident.

“He wasn’t wearing underpants and a giant school bus drove by …” she continued before Mikey Day chimed in asking the age of the said boy.

“He was like 6 …” she answered. “He wasn’t wearing any underwear, his little ding-a-ling was out.”

Visibly mortified, Padilla gasps and hides her shocked face behind her cue cards. Beside her, Day buries his head in his hands as Fineman pushes forward with the story, leaving the rest of the cast to watch in stunned, uncomfortable silence.

Fineman’s story was met with some serious backlash from fans, too.

“Anytime you gotta say “it was a different time” maybe stop,” one fan commented on TikTok.

“It’s crazy how every new detail just makes it exponentially worse. What do you mean you pantsed a boy? What do you mean he wasn’t wearing underwear? WHAT THE F**K DO YOU MEAN HE WAS SIX?!”another mortified viewer shared.

And another chimed in with: “She not only did it to a 6 year old, she still thinks is funny years later as an adult …”

Another viewer said they felt mostly for the co-stars who had to tone down their shocked reactions: “This is such a disturbing thing to admit in an interview and omg the uncomfortable laughter among the cast mates I feel so bad for them.”

While the edited version is still out there, Vanity Fair has kept Fineman’s entire segment from the game off social media.
