UFC champion Khamzat Chimaev has made an interesting claim regarding the health of his finances.
At UFC 328, Khamzat Chimaev will defend his UFC middleweight championship against rival and former champion Sean Strickland. While many are expecting Khamzat to retain the belt, Sean always seems to have a surprise or two up his sleeve, as he proved in his own title win against Israel Adesanya a few years back.
Chimaev, of course, is one of the most notable names in the UFC these days, even if his inactivity has left some fans and pundits feeling pretty frustrated. He has the potential to go even higher and become one of the top earners the sport has ever seen, but a few adjustments likely need to be made before he gets there.
As the debate continues regarding the state of fighter pay, Chimaev had the following to say about his financial situation.
Chimaev discusses financial situation
“I am making millions and people are just talking and doing nothing, if you do your work I don’t need to watch how often you work or how much you get.
“I care about myself, how much I make, how much I get.” When he was quizzed on if he was happy with his payouts from the UFC, he added: “Of course, I’ve been living in the gym and now I am living my dream.”
“I make more money out of the UFC because of what I’ve become, like ‘Khamzat Chimaev’.
“Wherever I go, people want to sponsor me, they want to do different things with me and they send this and that.”
