The Gunnedah South Public School cricketing girls went down in a thrilling, hard-fought match against Tamworth Public School at the Tamworth school’s oval on Tuesday last week.

Esther Maher led Gunnedah South’s bowling attack brilliantly, taking 2-14 while Alaylah Te Awa and Amelia Evans bowled superbly as they both captured 3-11.

Adalie Muddle’s wicketkeeping was outstanding, and every fielder contributed during a determined and spirited team performance.

Penny Graham showed great determination with the bat while playing with confidence and intent, and she backed this up with tidy and reliable bowling.

Grace Laurie displayed excellent awareness, as she batted with composure and bowled consistently to maintain pressure.

Miley Mitchell brought fantastic energy, showing positive intent with the bat and delivering enthusiastic and committed bowling.

Ava Reid showed great composure, batting sensibly under pressure and bowling with control in key moments.

Amelia Scott worked hard all game, showing resilience with the bat and delivering steady, accurate bowling spells.

Matisse Walters demonstrated great commitment, contributing with determined batting and disciplined bowling which supported the team well.

Darci Dalessandro played with confidence, batting with intent and bowling with great effort and determination.

Gunnedah South coach Eddie McGuirk said, “It was a fantastic display of teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship from the Gunnedah South girls, who should be incredibly proud of their efforts in such a close contest.”
