Jon Jones confirmed that his relationship with the UFC has reached a permanent end.

Jones revealed that he has moved on from active competition to focus on his health and his family. The catalyst was his exclusion from the historic UFC Freedom 250 (UFC White House) event scheduled for June 14. Jones revealed that while he was in “real negotiations” for a spot on the South Lawn card, White publicly dismissed the idea that Jones was ever in the running for the event, claiming Jones was “done” and effectively retired.

Jones countered by revealing that the promotion had been calling his lawyers as recently as March. Disappointed by the lack of respect for his legacy, Jones has officially requested his release from his UFC contract. Beyond the boardroom disputes, Jones provided a sobering update on his physical condition, explaining that he is no longer willing to endure the agony of a championship camp.

‘My gloves are hung up, I’m chilling these days. You have ‘Business Jon Jones’, no more fighter Jon Jones. The businessman,” Jones said

Is It The Right Move?

Beyond the disputes, Jones provided a sobering update on his physical condition, explaining that he is no longer willing to endure the agony of a championship camp.

Hip Replacement Candidate: Jones revealed that he suffers from severe arthritis in his left hip and is currently on a waiting list for a hip replacement.

Pain Management: He admitted that during his last training camp—where he briefly trained with Olympic wrestler Gable Steveson—he went to bed in “unbearable pain” every night.

The “Reward” Must Outweigh the Risk: For Jones, the White House event was the only prize significant enough to justify the long-term damage to his mobility.
